Scar is the damage caused by physical, biological, chemical and other factors on human skin and soft tissue, which leads to severe damage of skin and soft tissue and can not be completely repaired by itself. The local symptoms that affect both appearance and function are left by the replacement of repair by fibrous tissue. Scars bring huge physical and mental pain to patients, especially scars left after burns, scalds, and severe trauma, causing patients with great physical and mental disorders.
Classification of scar appearance
Sunken scars are defects in the dermis of the skin, mainly caused by acne, infection, trauma, surgery, etc.
The raised scars are mostly proliferative lesions of fibroblasts in the dermal layer of the skin after burns, trauma, surgery or repeated infections. There are red bulges, hard texture, smooth surface, may be accompanied by itching and pain. Keloids can also expand outward like crab feet.
Recuperation scar refers to a kind of scar on the superficial layer of the skin, which is usually caused by slight skin abrasion or superficial surface (superficial dermis) burn. Its surface is rough or there are pigment changes (such as skin erythema, white spots or pigmentation), and generally no dysfunction.
Spontaneous keloid has no obvious inducement. It occurs on normal skin or is caused by unnoticed minor abrasions, causing the skin to appear induration and gradually grow up. It has irregular edges and spreads to the periphery, forming crab feet shape or centipede-shape, butterfly-shaped, and round-shaped. It is hard, light red or dark red, itchy, and sometimes accompanied by paroxysmal pain or tingling.
Secondary keloid usually occurs in skin burns, infections and trauma. It is higher than the skin, red or dark red, itchy, and tingling. Symptoms can worsen after eating spicy foods, alcohol, and other irritating foods.
